Eastern Palace Boss

a.k.a. Armos Knights

Since each Armos Knight only takes 3 arrows to kill and the bow is generally required to reach this point, bow strats are the fastest and most common way to handle the Armos Knights fight. A myriad of bow setups exist -- some examples are given below. Note that the actual timings shown here are unoptimized and are highly variable depending on your skill at timing arrow shots.

Bottom-right (9.716)

A slower strat, but relatively straightforward, and a similar idea can be used in the Ice Armos fight in Ganon's Tower.

Top-right (8.750)

The most common approach is to start from the upper-right and shoot 5 arrows right before walking to the left (and slightly upward) and shooting 13 more arrows while walking downward.

Bottom-right First (6.450)
Bottom-right Last (6.316)

Aiming your arrows so that the bottom-right Armos is defeated last (instead of second-to-last) can save time since its movement pattern will put it closer to you, thus reducing arrow flight time.

Standard (8.750)
Downward Shot (8.250)

Shooting an extra arrow downward after the initial 5 (instead of simply walking left) is more efficient, allowing you to save time overall.

Bottom-right (8.983)

This strategy starts in the middle-left with 6 arrows fired upward, followed by 2 more, before walking to the lower-left corner.

Mid-right Down (8.550)

This strategy starts in the middle-right and employs the same approach as the conventional one starting in the top-right, but from a different direction.

Mid-right L-D-U (7.950)

This strategy starts in the middle-right with arrows fired left, down, then up. Special care must be taken at the end of the fight to hit the last two Armos Knights in the correct order.

Mid-right L-D-L (7.833)

This strategy starts in the middle-right with arrows fired left, down, then left.

Mid-right Left Up (7.833)

This tricky strategy strats in the middle-right with arrows fired left, up, and left. It and its variants currently hold the records for fastest time, when executed properly.

With silver arrows, each Armos Knight only takes a single hit to kill, allowing for different strategies to be used.

Top-right (4.700)

For those accustomed to starting the silverless fight on the top-right, this variant can be used.

Bottom-right (4.600)

This strategy starts from the bottom-right corner while moving diagonally up-left.

Mid-left (4.250)

This strategy reduces time spent walking by starting in the middle of the Armos Knights.

With proper manipulation, it's possible to defeat all 6 Armos Knights using the cane of byrna, even without any magic extensions. Various strategies exist for this, in general trying to clump up the Armos Knights so that many of them can be damaged simultaneously. Keep in mind that byrna knockback will always send enemies upward, and that the final two Armos Knights should ideally be defeated at around the same time to skip phase two of the fight.

Byrna Center (14.750)

This strategy is intuitive, but loses time due to having to wait for the initial pattern change. It can also be inconsistent in the way that it groups the Armos Knights, and is not recommended for this reason. You will have to keep track of exactly how much each Armos Knight is damaged and move accordingly in order to successfuly skip phase two.

Byrna Left (12.233)

This strategy groups the 4 Armos Knights on the left first and then attempts to defeat the other two simultaneously. Care must be taken to avoid defeating the upper-right Armos Knight more quickly than the lower-right one.

Byrna Right, Slow (15.533)

This strategy takes advantage of the fact that the Armos Knights circle clockwise, allowing you to trap them all in the upper-right corner after waiting for the rotation phase to start. Activating byrna too early in the beginning, or not walking left far enough to start hitting the last Armos Knight sooner, will result in running out of magic before the Red Armos can be defeated.

Byrna Right, Fast (11.283)

This variant of the upper-right corner strategy starts by dealing a few hits to the bottom Armos in the beginning, allowing it to be defeated more quickly at the end, thus skipping the second phase of the fight. It's most likely the fastest possible strategy when using byrna.

(200% playback speed)

While more of a curiosity than a practical strategy, it is technically possible to defeat all 6 Armos Knights using nothing more than bombs and a great deal of patience. This strategy requires 12 bombs in total, so at least one bomb capacity upgrade is needed.

If you can't skip the second phase of the fight and don't have arrows on hand, you can position yourself anywhere underneath the Red Armos Knight to trivialize the fight. Since the Red Armos never jumps completely to your location, you will always be safe without moving, unless it leaps twice in a row.
